Developed by Ph.D. students, Academic Presenter is a completely free tool with a focus on dynamic, vector-based presentations of a high quality.
The program is divided into two main areas – a set of tools to help you create graphs and frames as a basis of your presentation and an array of transitions and other dynamic elements to turn your slides into a smooth-running presentation. You can either start your design from scratch or make use of the various templates available for download. There are samples for various types of presentations, varying not only in design but also in the way your ideas can be structured and presented to an audience. Thus, you have a newspaper template to present various ideas with clear sections for an introduction, a set of criteria, and a conclusion. You can choose “The Culprit” or the “Root to Fruits” templates to show the steps required to reach your objectives; the “Cloud” sample to show the different sections of a work, or a “Network” template to show all the connections among the various items of your theory. Or you can simply check them all out for inspiration, and start designing your own.
You can add your own background and foreground images, place objects, clip-art images, and lines, and add explanatory texts and mathematical formulas, as well as image, audio, and video files to give that multimedia approach to your presentation. You can even insert PDF files into it, or save your entire presentation as a PDF file instead. All elements are configurable in terms of size, font, alignment, dimensions, opacity, etc., and the program’s modular approach will allow you to modify them separately without altering the whole of the presentation. You can then add different animations between slides, and run the entire presentation to see if it fits what you had in mind.
Academic Presenter is a high-quality presentation tool designed by the academic community for the academic world. If you take your presentations seriously, this is a specialized application that will provide you for free with all the tools you need to create them. It may take you a while to master its many possibilities, but the presentations you will be creating at the end of the learning process are worth the extra effort.
